We were excited to follow Foursquare Founder Dennis Crowley (@dens) and Seismic Founder Loic Le Mur (@loic) running the New York City Marathon on Sunday! Earlier, Dennis had provided a Cool Mayor Maker Primer as heads up to the community. Using Mayor Maker (available free on iPhone), both Dennis and Luic were automatically checking into the New York City Marathon Mile Markers! Facebook’s Location Offering – A Developer’s Perspective

Location Labs – One API to Locate 250 Million Phones

In case you missed the news from earlier this week, Location Labs announced that its Universal Location Service [ULS] became the first true cross-carrier location aggregator in the U.S. By adding Verizon to the platform, ULS puts the location of 250MM phones into the hands of developers. This includes the ability to locate both smartphones and feature phones… all without special software running on the phone. Because the carrier network is used to determine location, the end user does not need to download anything. Continue reading
